Bill Malloy III, California-Based Entrepreneur and Philanthropist
Bill Malloy III co-founded Sway Ventures as a means of investing in software companies and providing them with deep operational support, while helping to develop the business ecosystem in which American companies collaborate with those in Europe and the UK. His interest in entrepreneurship and innovation in the tech sector continues today through a variety of other projects. Additionally, Bill Malloy applies his entrepreneurial background to serve as the president of Malloy and Company, which aims to leverage the power of innovation and sustainability to drive positive change at the community level.
Possessing an MBA from the University of Southern California, Bill Malloy developed experience in venture capital investment through DFJ – Zone Ventures. In addition to assisting startups with financial and operational structuring and strategic planning, he provided assistance in underwriting and investment.
Over the years, his efforts to build out other companies have spanned Northern and Southern California and have included board positions with emerging brands such as the tech-powered, multi-platform investment firm Zanbato, the consumer credit app creator Tally, and LiveAction. In addition, Bill Malloy co-founded NEX3, which concentrates on frontier technologies for startup companies.
Bill Malloy has also applied his product management experience to develop innovative digital entertainment companies such as Listen.com and MusicMatch, which were sold to Real Networks and Yahoo, respectively. His efforts have also included co-leading investment in major tech firms such as Uber, Lyft, and the wealth management platform Addepar.
Bill Malloy’s dedication to the nonprofit sector centers on his goal of providing support for innovative cancer treatments and diagnostic methodologies. He co-founded the PEERS Network to help business leaders give back to their community. In addition, he is a former board member and treasurer with the Equinox Center, which champions environmental stewardship of San Diego’s natural resources, such as land, water, beaches, and green spaces, while seeking to foster a robust economy at the community level.
