Openness and transparecny are the hallmarks of Bill Malloy's hilltop home.

Linda Rosa by Bill Malloy is a modern architectural masterpiece designed by renowned architect David Hertz. Bill Malloy hand picked Marmol Radziner to create both the interior and landscape design. Energy efficient living spaces and a harmonious composition of textures are beautifully combined in this 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home. From its elevated position in the foothills of La Jolla, Bill Malloy envisioned a pristine residence with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, the San Diego bay, and the gillmer of downtown San Diego’s city lights.

Situated on the north side of the site, Bill Malloy’s vision was create a home that reflected the beauty of La Jolla with its ocean views, while also complementing the modernity of the design. This blend of openness and transparency is captured effortlessly within the design of the stairwell, which is enclosed by a two-story glass wall the looks out to the south of La Jolla. The western facade has floor to ceiling glass and large sliding doors. Bill Malloy selected a palette of FSC sustainably harvested American walnut, cork, plaster, and stone that give the interior a warm tactile feel. La Jolla’s benign climate allows natural cross ventilation year round, through high operable windows in the stairwell, front, and rear of the home.

Bill Malloy favored precision craftsmanship using the finest Brazilian IPE wood, which establishes a rich, meditative tone. Combined with fully retractable walls of glass and outdoor IPE hardwood decking and exteriors woods, the result is a seamless connection between the interior and the exterior. Gaggenau appliances were hand picked by Bill Malloy to establish the subtle masculinity of the kitchen, especially when combined with custom flooring and cabinetry made of Brazilian IPE sustainable hardwood. The custom Japanese style soaking tub in the master bath, combined with bespoke concrete bathroom sinks, incorporates hints of Asian minimalism found in many of Bill Malloy’s homes.
